Een man heeft een goede daad gedaan en daarom komt er een kabouter naar hem toe en zegt: "Meneer, u mag een wens doen!"
Waarop de man antwoordt: "Ik zou graag naar Hawai willen, maar ik wil niet varen en ik durf niet met de boot."
"Tja," zegt de kabouter, "dan weet ik ook geen oplossing."
Waarop de man zegt: "Kun jij dan geen brug voor mij bouwen?"
Zegt de kabouter: "Weet je wel wat dat niet kost? Dat is veel te duur, weet je misschien niet iets anders?"
"Nou," zegt de man, "dan wil ik graag een vrouw die niet zeurt."
Zegt de kabouter: "Wil je verlichting op je brug of gaat het in het donker ook wel?"
