Well, two things to say thanks to colossus_r, # First for bring me to this forum  # Second for this great howto he wrote , it tokes me just 10 minutes to follow the steps to get newcs running on my win2000 server . For me the first time to see PW running with newcamd ...but it works.

I have an important question regarding NEWCS running on a windows platform.
What windows client software can be used to connect to NEWCS server, say for IRDETO 2?
A lot of my friends still have Humax decoders, so what can they use?

Hi z80 What window client???? I cant follow you???? NewCS server accept all clients (Ragegast-Newcamd-Mgcamd) running on a DreamBox or a linux pc with software client(Newcamd) and a satelite reciever. I dont now alot of things about Humax but if can use one of those clients it will work. colossus

Hi fred I presume that you use the files that i haved post here so the server its running From the log file that you suply to me seems that the newcs server its ok and it had read and decode the card. Now configure you DreamBox the file newcamd.conf (/var/tuxbox/config/newcamd) the line that you have to edit is CWS = 192.168.0.1 10000 username1 userpas1 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan cardserv Where : 192.168.0.1 ----- its the ip of your server 10000 ----- its the server port username1 userpas1 --- its the user name and password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 --- DES key lan (lan or spider) cardserv ------------ its the name of the server all of the above must much the values on the newcs.xml then restart the newcamd and it will be ok Let now the results of this colossus Share the NowHow

The more stable its 1.16 And something strange.....Take out the card and reinsert it 2-3 times. Some readers(mine is one) dont read the card at once. Before you do that stop the server. Use the app newcsgui in the 1 page of the forum to easy control the server and chek the log file for results. If no use post more info and configuration files to chek colossus

My card is canal digital nordic (orginal)
Reader spr-532 in cusb and com1
Newcs version from the first page of this topic so is it 1.6. about gui says 0.0.1.2
Do I have to start also newcs or just newcsgui and do I have to do it in cmd?

First of all, i am currently using cardsharing through DreamBox (7000s DreamBox server with evocamd/newcs) with 2 cards. Clients (lan and wan) are running evocamd. I would like to kindly ask you: 1) what are the minimum specs for this windows based server? 2) can it run xin xp home? 3) are there any card readers that accept two cards? (irdeto2 is what i must have). Please recommend a couple. Should they be serial ones, or is usb ok? 4)Will evocamd still work? Thanks a lot for your time and for sharing the knowhow!

Hi leshim Your answers 1. Any pc running winxp its ok for cardserver. Even celeron with 256mb ram. Just get a good power supply. (it will be open all the time 24/7) 2. Hi all this is my post #1 on this board... so first of all: thank you for all these really interesting threads... and thank you in advance for your help  I have a win2k PC, running newcs. It manges a NDX càrd (s*ky I) via a smartmouse on com1. On the same PC, two sessions of dsr9500 are used to interface a couple of STBs (Phìlìps goldboxes), which are connected on com2 and com3. All runs fine... but obviously, this configuration can only manage NDX ecms. Actually, when I need something different, I have to change the setting of the STB to switch from cs to on board emù... and viceversa, when I'm back on s*ky. That's not so easy, for my child (and my wife ;)) It would be nice to have my server working on other CA systems too... but: - I have no more free serial ports, nor USB ports (yes... that PC is very, very old :D) - the only interesting channels -to me- are coded in via 2.3 (sr*g)... - even if I add a serial port and a smartmouse... I will need a wafer/fun càrd; and updating it is not so funny (...you have to take it, put it in the Apollo programmer...:( ) To be honest...I found a *nice* program (WSP, Windows Sharìng Pàck), which should be my solution... but its emu fails decoding sr*g's ecm. It doesn't force byte 3 and 7, in delivered DWs, to be chacksums (sum mod 0x100 of three previous bytes). I have also tried to use WSP as a "bridge" to a camd3 server (...running on the same PC :D)... but it seems that WSP doesn't engage camd3 correctly. In TCP mode the login procedure fails; in UDP mode I only see a message on camd3 console... something like "ddmmyy hhmm camd3: UDP 00 -> xxxx:yyyyyyy:wwww  0.050000s from 127.0.0.1 (user)"... but I don't know the meaning of those fields (x, y, w, z)... also, I don't know "what" are those 50mS for. Anyway: the workaround doesn't work, the STB can't get del DWs. If someone can explain me why (in other words, how does camd3 work)... it woul be very appreciated :)) ..But here's my "main" question: is there any "newcamd protocol-based emusèrver", running on Windows? Hi there , thanks for the very good HowTO. I am new to satellites, <a href="http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/ DreamBox" target="_blank"> DreamBox</a> and Cardsharing, im good with PCs though. I have one satellite reciever at home, and one at office. I have permanent broadband connection at both places, with diferen ISP. I would like to setup cardsharing and buy <a href="http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/ DreamBox" target="_blank"> DreamBox</a> for both sites (home and office) . But i have a concern, i heard that cardsharing will not work with NAT-ed ip adresses??!!!! I have public ip adress at home , but i have private (NAT-ed) ip adress at my office. Will the cardsharing work in my situation?

As long as your office DreamBox is the client it works, otherwise it's not possible. Make sure you open a port on your router (server). But you must know that cardsharing trough the internet is forrbidden by law.... Kind regards, FreeSat

I now want to set up yet another server serving other cards than the ones that I am serving with the first machine and want to know if I can set up cardspider on the windows machines? This so that those who are in the CS group can find the channels they want on either of the machines and also to have a type of redundancy in case one of the systems goes down. How do I get the cardspiders set up on the windows based machines?? :blink:

Hi Colossus thanks for all the great input on this forum I wonder if you can help me. I have a windows based server up and running using NewCs and it works fine. (how about a UPS ) Andyou can use Norton GHOST for backup of the server. Even in a total pc crash you will be up and running in 15 min So for the more cards ...Just add the new cards to your existing server i hope i helped you colossus

Hi Collossus,
The two servers are in different (physical) locations, one with a two norwegian cards and the other with one norweian card and a sky card. I want to set up a spider so everyone will have access to whatever card. That I have one same type of card in both servers is my redundancy, due to server/connection problems in the past.

I have just downloaded newcs16 and installed it on my pc. I had a infinity usb phoenix lying around and went looking for it, hooked it up, set it to phoenix mode, added my card, set user and pass (amongst other settings) in newcs.xml and that was that on the computer side. Clean install of gemini 4.0 on my 7020, installed mgcamd 1.25 on reciever tinkered a bit with necessary files and voila. :speak_cool: What can I say, thank you seems little, I found you guide and instructions very clear. :thumbsup: (note - no previous experience in card sharing).

Your are quick learning then, in my time setting it up took about 1 week to get the job done using Linux, but then there was no such thing as usermanuals and help from overseas and this side of the ocean Thanks for letting us know that this topic was usefull. FreeSat No doubt, I have been in computers and electronics for many years and I know that we (the new guys in card sharing and stuff) are taking advantage of the experience gathered by all you guys that have been busy with the subject for a number of years. All the credit for every advancement and success eventually leads back to you guys (who ever you may be). Can you please attach the config file and tell us which cardreader you're using.
This is essential information to get your problem solved.
Also tell us which serial port you are using to connect the reader.

Possible, your are using COM1 on your computer?
The cardreader is set on mode 0 (6.00 MHz)?

Hi all, I used the instuctions to set up a nova cardsharing using an Infinity USB (Phoenix enabled) cardreader and an Nova Irdeto Access v.2 card and I failed... I keep getting the "Reset failed ..." message from newcs when I initate it. Has anyone seen the same behavior? Any help is appreciated... :huh: Thanks in advance. J.Ag. MasterCRD is in Mode 0 (6MHz) already. Until I get NewCS running I'll use the serial MasterCRD.
I can't understand why camd3-Server is running without any problem and NewCS not.
I need NewCS because my CCcam-Clients (dbox2) can't send REMM's to camd3 but NewCS.

Good morning FreeSat,
I have exactly the same approach, NewCS to keep the card updated by one of my boxes where I watch the Premiere channels.
But I'm desperately trying to get NewCS running with windows. I don't have and want another PC running 24hrs a day just for NewCS on linux.
Do you have another idea or maybe a good link for a in depth howto for NewCS ???

i want to connect 4 card readers so i share 4 cards
i use Multiprogrammer 3.6 USB card readers how i can conect them?
and how (if its possible) i can split the cards to clients? i mean to one client give 1 and 3 card to other all and to other 3 and 4 lets say

First of all: welcome You have to run several NewCS processes. So run NewCS on the first USB (say USB0) Run the second NewCS on the next USB (say USB1) Rename the NewCS.exe to NewCS1.exe and the .xml to NewCS1.xml Do the same to the second, third and fourth ofcourse. Now you can run the sessions seperately and they won't affect the others. Have fun. FreeSat

But globaly: -1- Which DB, 7020, 7025 and 600 just through the network with the internet browser. With DM7020 and DM7025 press and hold the arrow up button on the front of the tuner and power it on by turning the switch on the back to "On"of "1". DM600 follow these instructions: In telnet type:mount /boot –o remount,rw
rm /boot/*
reboot In your webbrowser type the dreamboxes IP address and use the firmware upload link. With DM500, DM5620 and DM7000 use DreamUp -2- DreamBoxEdit for DM500, DM600, DM5620, DM7000, DM7020 - For DM7025 use DreamSet -3- About what? If you mean cardsharing, download CCcam 2.04 and edit the CCcam.cfg file in /var/etc -4- Edit the /var/etc/CCcam.cfg with the editor implemented in DCC ( DreamBox Control Center) or using "vi" but that is more complicated. The best way to transfer images to DreamBox its an application named FlashWizard...... To make clear: You are using an smartcard, inserted in a cardreader using NewCS on MicroSoft Windows. The box is using Newcamd as EMU??? Why don't you use CCcam to connect to your server like: N: 192.168.0.10 1002 username password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 Make sure your newcs.xml includes the specified username and password. In NewCS replace:

With:
<hostname>all</hostname>
This should solve it. But as i sayd before, why don't you use CCcam as emu, now you are using MGCamd but this is the oldest and slowest way.

Open a SSH session (Like with Putty.exe) to your DreamBox, login with root and maybe your standard password is: DreamBox. Run the command passwd and the questions will be asked to enter the new password. It's not that hard. FreeSat

I thinks so. I have a lot to lean! It is giving me provider and id and starting the Newcamd server. What are the diferences of Newcamd and Radegast servers?
BTW this will be used with yankse or simualr for a HTPC.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll try and get newcamd working. I'm having (I think!) getting yankse to connect. No provider id is in the yanksee monitor. I've looked at wincsc but am unsure of setting it up right. Have to learn!
Should I be able to se the conection to the card with Putty(telnet) or like?

Hi
didn't realy get to test much last night, but still am having problems. Just so I understand (and learn), when it says Starting Newcamd server.... It starts a server with adress 192.168.1.10 ? or does it start on my pc ip, 192.168.1.4 ? Also a bit confused, you say try 679 as this is the port nr of server, yet the log says starting Newcamd server on port 11010. Hope you can explain.
I tried all thes setting in Yanksee and in Wincsc, but couldn't connect to server :-

Thank you. Didn't have time untill now to give the good news! I got it working. I used radegast server on port 678. Put this in the ini for yankse and bang, up came the channels! I'll be giving newcamd a try, as I'm intrested in the Auto update featre. How does that work?
Again, thank you for you patience and information. I must admit, it's a steep learning curve and most of the guides expect one to be a expert on servers, ports, ip adresses etc!

Radegast can be used to connect without a username and from several other boxes, Newcamd is secured by a password and gives the opportunity to AU your smartcard (Auto Update) for monthly updates. (Fee based)
