Hi All
I am new to the forum and was very impressed with the standard of knowledge and experimentation . Keep up[ the good work

Now to my question I have a DreamBox 5620 and 2 DreamBox 500s at home. The boxxes are all in different room in the house and use their own cards for the relvant viewing.
In the main system I have an Irdeto card for 68.5E and in the other two room one machine has Art and the other Showtime.
After my reading up in the forum I understand that I may be able to share these cards between the dreamboxes and then each DreamBox will be able to view all the channels I receive.
All the units are connected to a PC which I use as DVR.

So the question is can I put soemting in the 5620 to allow me to read from more than one card and how do i share this through my system.

Thanks

Hi Edsatil and welcome,

You can use CCcam (2.04) and edit the /var/etc/CCcam.cfg file and add in all boxes some lines like:

Box 1:
F: box2 box2
F: box3 box3
C: ipaddress_box2 box1 box1
C: ipaddress_box3 box1 box1

Box 2:
F: box1 box1
F: box3 box3
C: ipaddress_box1 box2 box2
C: ipaddress_box3 box2 box2

Box 3:
F: box1 box1
F: box2 box2
C: ipaddress_box1 box3 box3
C: ipaddress_box2 box3 box3

This make it possible to get all boxes connected to each other and you can use all the cards in the house.

Any questions, please feel free to ask them here.

I understand there is a way that I can put a unit to read the cards on my PC and then distribute within the house that way.
What would I need and where can I get this from.
I have also read all the warning and I think that I understand and therefore I must state that this is for use in my house only (LAN?)

It's possible with all kind of readers. With any reader you are able to distribute the keys through the house.
With the right software you you can manage it to work.

Hi
Box 1:
F: box2 box2
F: box3 box3
C: ipaddress_box2 box1 box1
C: ipaddress_box3 box1 box1

Does the 3rd line mean "ipaddress of the box2" and "box1""box1"?
same with line 4?

C: means "CCcam client"
ipaddress_boxX means: the ip address of the serving box (the one where a card is being shared)
box1 is the loginname
the other box1 is the password.

Another sample:

3 Dreamboxes
1 = DM7020 with Canal Digital Smartcard and IP address is 10.0.0.7
2 = DM500 with TV-Vlaanderen smartcard and IP address is 10.0.0.8
3 = DM500 without smartcard and IP address 10.0.0.9

1st box (10.0.0.7) contains:
F: box2 box2pass
F: box3 box3pass
C: 10.0.0.8 box1 box1pass

2nd box (10.0.0.8) contains:
F: box1 box1pass
F: box3 box3pass
C: 10.0.0.7 box2 box2pass

3th box (10.0.0.9) contains:
F: box1 box1pass
F: box2 box2pass
C: 10.0.0.7 box3 box3pass
C: 10.0.0.8 box3 box3pass

This means that all the boxes can use both cards using CCcam cardsharing.

Hope this clears up.
