Hi There, first of all: Welcome...

The way to use the smartcard with both boxes is to install a Ronaldd image. Form this image i'm sure it's working this way:
The server DreamBox:
Go to the Setup Plugin Menu with the blue button
The choose services to run and enable CS Server
The server is configured now. Please remember the IP address of this DreamBox (192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0)
The client:
Choose with the blue button the Setup Plugin Menu again and choose EMU SETUP. Within this setup you choose (for instance) newcamd_cs and press OK when that plugin is highlighted. Now you get a menu for configuring the client. Choose Nummeric address and enter the servers address (192.168.0.1) in that box and the port should be port 1500. Enable AU (Auto Update).
The IP address of this DreamBox should be in the same range like the server. For instance 192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0

This should work.

Regards,
FreeSat

You are welcome.

@everybody, as you can see, it's quiet simple to configure a cardsharingserver.

Hi everybody!

First of all; I've found a lot of good info in here! smile (but have som problems)

@ FreeSat: You give a lot of good answers!

So to my question: I'm trying to setup an Linux (slackware) server, so i can share my card (leagal card) with my reciver #2 (lan), and my brother (internet)

I have some season interface cards, and want to use theme. My laptop is communicating with my server (tested with start-run-cmd-ping "ip-adress to server")

I'm not sure how to setup this system (think server is ok), but what about the laptop? I have to use an USB-->Serial cable because my laptop have no serial connector, only 4xUSB. Is this okay to use?

Software on laptop?

Sorry for bad english, i'm from Norway......
